Abstract
With recent advancements in technology, virtual reality has become possible. More specifically, virtual reality is a digital 3D environment that people occupy and interact with as if they were actually there, all thanks to modern day headsets and controls. The concept of virtual reality isn’t anything new, but over time it has changed as a result of advancements in computer science. This thesis will go over the fundamentals of modern day virtual reality and how the application of this virtual reality can aid in the workforce. That is to say, it will cover the concepts of 3D digital worlds, modern day virtual reality hardware and software, and the history behind both to show the steps that were taken towards its modern day version. The application of virtual reality to training programs discusses a psychological approach towards the usage of virtual reality in general as well as going over the pros and cons of using such technology for training purposes in general.
