Abstract/Artist's Statement
Copy and Waste is an exploration of my personal relationship with the images of women in the advertisements and photo spreads of fashion magazines. The more I started to question the influence of this seemingly harmless subject matter, the less clear my relationship to them became. I was inspired by ideas of illusion, standards of beauty, physical and emotional disintegration, and the blurred lines between a celebration of these images and a critique of what they represent.
