Abstract/Artist's Statement
Ferrocene compounds with a variety of dangling appendages that contain pyridine or imidazole fragments were reacted with the paramagnetic ruthenium (III) complex, Na[RuCl4(DMSO)2], to produce new, anionic, dinuclear Ru(III)-Fe(II) species. The crude products were purified by recrystallization or column chromatography. The complexes were characterized by IR and NMR spectroscopies, and by XRD (X-Ray diffraction), where possible.
