Description

Amiri Baraka (credited on the tape under his previous name, LeRoi Jones) reading poems and prose at Bard College, circa 1960. Includes a major reading from his 1965 novel The System Of Dante’s Hell. Baraka rearranges Dante's Inferno, using it as a framework to explore his own life experiences growing up in New Jersey and serving in the military during the Vietnam War era.
