Abstract

In this article, Louis reflects on the challenges of teaching English to students from underprivileged communities, who often face many obstacles outside of the classroom that prevent them from fully engaging with the material. Louis describes how practices shared by IWT CLASP helped him build trust with his students, which led to more active classes.
