Abstract

This is a practical guide for putting storytelling to work in the liberal arts and sciences classroom, to build community, confidence and connection. Written in collaboration with Wind&Bones CIC (Scotland), this guide provides a new approach to storytelling in the classroom, putting direct one-on-one communication at the heart of storytelling. Through this approach, students can make stronger connections with their peers and with the subject-matter they are studying, while growing in confidence and building stronger, more engaged communities of teaching and learning. The guide offers a robust framework for thinking about storytelling and communication in the classroom and provides a practical toolkit, giving clear instructions for how to reimagine the classroom as a space for storytelling, with an array of practical exercises to get instructors started.
