Abstract
The mathematics developed during the Sakoku from 1641 to 1853 in Japan is important to the arts on top of being culturally rich. In this thesis, we explore the importance of data visualization in Wasan as well as Wasan and its relations to more modern mathematics such as analysis and the Bernoulli Numbers. The first two chapters look into some background, the third chapter looks into analysis problems, the fourth chapter analyzes Seki Takakazu's version of the Bernoulli Numbers, and the fifth chapter concludes this thesis.
