Abstract
In order to understand the current Chinese film production industry and the broader marketing of films in China, one must realize that both have been dominated by Hollywood since the 1990s. This thesis analyzes the development of Chinese film in conjunction with the invasion of Hollywood. The first chapter focuses on the history of Chinese film production and its origins and influences within Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Mainland China. The second chapter focuses on the emerging pattern of China-Hollywood collaborations. The final chapter evaluates the impact of co-production between Hollywood and Chinese film companies, which includes the current situation and potential opportunities in the near future.
