Abstract/Artist's Statement

My thesis explores the intersection of marginalized congregants and religious clashes in the context of the mosque and its broader societal impact on its specific community. My thesis goes into the creation of equitable spaces for women who inhabit the mosque. It will architecturally investigate how ritual, customs, bodily practices shapes the design and utilization of mosque spaces. Additionally, it will examine how gender and religious ideological clashes manifest in the architectural elements and how it affects the spatial layout of the mosque. Analyzing these multifaceted dimensions, it seeks to shed light on the complex relationship between gender, religion, and architecture in the context of mosques and interior spaces.
