Abstract/Artist's Statement

Various Pt(II) complexes with chelating diisocyanide ligands were synthesized and characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The photophysical properties of these compounds were studied by UV/Vis and emission spectroscopies, quantum yield and excited state lifetime measurements both in solution state as well as in thin polymer films. It was found that immobilizing these compounds in films yielded between a thirty-fold and two-fold increase in quantum yield.
