Abstract/Artist's Statement
This is a partial translation from Japanese to English of the novel Kagami no Kojō (2017) by Mizuki Tsujimura (b. 1980). A brief introduction contextualizes the topics of bullying and school refusal, and also analyzes the translation process. The story follows a young girl, Kokoro Anzai, and six other teenagers who have stopped going to school. Through the mirrors in their bedrooms, the seven teenagers are brought to a castle in another world and are all given the task to find the Wishing Key. The person who completes the task first will have one wish granted. But as the teenagers spend time in the castle, they gradually open up to each other and form irreplaceable personal bonds.
