Abstract/Artist's Statement
Using childhood TV shows as a vehicle to examine the dark underside of technological dependence, Schlafawelt is a multimedia performance piece incorporating live performance, film, and audio, envisioned using the live streaming platform Twitch, to allow interactivity between audience and performer. Schlafawelt probes both the fears and desires of digital utopia, and exposes the fracturing of identity resulting from the modern cyberscape. Deconstructing the medium it utilizes, Schlafawelt re-infuses autonomy into a time of isolation, in hopes of dismantling capitalism, bringing people back into their bodies, and creating community.
