Abstract/Artist's Statement
Novel cyclometalated Pt(II) complexes with various bidentate diphenyldiphosphine ligands were characterized, and the chromophore C^N ligand of each complex was either PPY (2-phenylpyridine) or imine functionalized L9. The chelating C^N ligands was altered to observe the photophysical effects of these complexes on the luminescent properties of PMMA doped films. Each complex was used as a dopant in a PMMA thin film (95% wt. PMMA, 5% wt. complex). The absorbance, emission, and quantum yield values of each complex in a PMMA film were analyzed. Specifically, the quantum yield values were of interest. When doped in PMMA films, a two-to-three-fold increase in quantum yield was observed.
