Abstract/Artist's Statement
Benzothiophene and naphthalene derived ligands were used to synthesize Pt(IV) metallacyles. Ligand scaffolding was synthesized via the condensation of aldehydes with amines to result in an imine structure. The ligands were metalated using chelate-assisted C-X activation. Different synthetic methods were taken, which resulted in varying diastereoselectivity. Subsequent reactions were performed using these metallacycles to elucidate regiochemistry and diastereomeric mixtures. Characterization of these products was done by NMR spectroscopy.
