Abstract/Artist's Statement
This written component of my Senior Project in Dance explores the relationship between language, body, and document, and the constant shifting of this relationship in conversation with power. This work was created specifically for submission to the college's digital archive. It serves the explicit purpose of reifying an occlusion of narrative--both the activity of occlusion and the narrative upon which it acts--as a historical artifact of this institution, and provides institutionally un/intelligible evidence of the labor of un/belonging.
Betrayal is predicated on trust, and I stand in solidarity with those for whom trust was never a real option.
It is thus that the liar believes in his lies, by dint of repeating them. --Ralph Lemon
