Abstract/Artist's Statement
Benzothiophene-derived ligands were synthesized using Suzuki Couplings or condensation reactions. Chelate assisted C-H activation was achieved by reacting the ligands with the dinuclear platinum compound [Pt2Me4(µ-SMe2)2] to produce bismetalated platinum(II) complexes through oxidative addition and subsequent reductive elimination. The preparation of the ligands as well as their respective C^N cyclometalated products is reported. The platinum (II) complexes were characterized by UV/Vis, 1H and 13C NMR, and emission spectroscopies.
