Abstract/Artist's Statement
First Name Carmen is a series of portraits of women I love. These photos channel my making sense of my romantic feelings towards these women. They’re an expression of what I feel and see in them. I view them as possible lovers, soul-mates, or actresses in a story or film of mine. They would play beloved characters or be the protagonists and the camera would represent the eyes of the lover. They embody an unattainable subject of love shrouded in mystery while others are more clear and straightforward. I this project, I photograph with a digital camera and shoot mostly at night exploring the possibilities of light and color in the digital medium.
