Abstract/Artist's Statement
This project will examine two strategy recommendations made by Peter H. Smith on how Latin America could fight imperialism. The combination of the two recommendations becomes what I term the Bolivarian Strategy. The first recommendation calls for a strategy of unity based on the ideas of Simon Bolivar. The second recommendation calls on Latin America to seek alliances outside the region, possibly Europe. This project will examine how Latin America has tried and failed to accomplish this strategy in the past and how it is succeeding today through institutions. Along with this the project will examine what this success mean for the future of U.S/Latin American relations along with Global/Latin America relations.
