Abstract/Artist's Statement
Growing up in two different households meant living two different lives for 18 years. Constantly changing environments led me to seek stability in other aspects of my life. I never knew how to feel about the whole situation; there were times of happiness but many times that I did not think I could manage. Art has always been my way of expressing the feelings that I did not necessarily know how to vocalize or explain. Rather than letting my emotions wreak havoc on my life, I got into the habit of translating these synnical comments that I had on society into visual representations. I have always found dark humor to be the most intriguing combination of comedy and tragedy. There is something profoundly human about laughing at something that is not a laughing matter, and I absolutely love it. Humor is a medium through which I can comment on just about anything that I want.
