Abstract/Artist's Statement
Novel cyclometalated Pt(IV) complexes with benzyl- and thiophene-based ligands were characterized. The chelating C^N ligands were altered to observe the photophysical effects of these complexes on the luminescent properties of PMMA-doped thin films. Each complex was used as a dopant in a PMMA thin film (95% wt. PMMA, 5% wt. complex). The absorbance and emission of each complex in a PMMA film was analyzed. When used as dopants in PMMA thin films, an increase in emission intensity was observed. Quantum yield measurements of complexes in solution were <1%.
