Description

This collection consists of Professor Shaikh’s notes related to the course Econ 234. It includes his handwritten annotations on Hyman P. Minsky’s article “On the Control of the American Economy” (1982), as well as marked passages in his personal copy of the text. The folder also contains handwritten notes on Minsky’s Can It Happen Again? (1982), and annotations and markings in his copy of “Financial Resources in a Fragile Financial Environment” (1975).

In addition, the collection includes Shaikh’s marked copies of the following papers:

  • “Financial Markets and Economic Instability, 1965–80” by Hyman P. Minsky

  • “Banking and Insurance” by Jonathan David Aronson

  • “Stagnation, Instability, and International Competition” by Raford Boddy and James R. Crotty

  • “A General Disequilibrium Model of Income and Employment” (1971) by Robert J. Barro and Herschel I. Grossman

Also included are two New York Times articles dated September 12, 1982:

  • “The Upheaval in Pension Fund Planning” by Deborah Rankin

  • “The Boom in Municipal Bonds” by Vartanig G. Vartan
