Abstract/Artist's Statement

This is a creative nonfiction project I wrote about my Yiayia (grandmother), Irene Sotirhos. It focuses on ritual, tradition, and the unexpected beauty that comes from these things.

The goal of this project is to encapsulate some of my memories of her; honestly and intimately, and to create a permanent image, though by no means complete, of what Yiayia's presence in my life was like.
