Abstract/Artist's Statement
"Dismantling the Anti-Trans Narrative: Tennessee as Case Study" is a work of journalistic nonfiction, combining long-form reportage with critical academic analysis of language and rhetoric. The scope of this senior project focuses on Tennessee's 2023 ban on gender-affirming care for minors, the conservative media activism that shaped the bill's language, and the ongoing lawsuit against this law, which has gone to the Supreme Court of the United States as U.S. v. Skrmetti.
