Abstract/Artist's Statement
I develop a narrative in which stories are told in translation by one character, Ingrid, to other characters, Ingrid’s mother Margaret, her friend Frank, and her brother Jeremy. She tells the stories during a short span after she has returned from living in Colombia for five years. The act of translation happens, on the one hand, between languages (Spanish to English), but on the other hand it happens between lived experience and the act of storytelling, between the relationships that Ingrid returns to in the United States and her relationships with the stories and the people who told them to her in Colombia.
