Jim Salvucci recalls coming to Bard on a whim, and feeling that 'something just clicked;' making friends during Language and Thinking; living in Tewksbury in his freshman year; remaining in touch with his first roommate Geoffrey Winiker; Stephen Jay Gould speaking at his Commencement; iconoclasm and the 'independent spirit' at Bard and beyond; Bard's ('terrible') bands; listening to jazz with his roommate and developing a taste for unconventional music; Beastie Boys performing at Bard; trashing (and cleaning up) a dorm during his 20th reunion visit; leaving Bard, teaching English, and becoming a dean at Stevenson University; winning the housing lottery and living in Gahagen during his senior year.
