Abstract
This document records my thesis journey, an exploration of artistic expression vs. self-indulgence, in which I question the fear of sentimentality and strive for emotional integrity. It records inspirations and aspirations. Beginning with the current text of my original one-act play, Lesbian Mothers Don't Get Divorced, it then details my musings and potential insights into theatrical - specifically acting - theory, with an emphasis on the practical application of the theoretical. This document is supplemented by a DVD containing footage of the staged reading of Lesbian Mothers and a visual postscript of my process.
