Abstract/Artist's Statement
“No Ethan. Be in the world but not of it.” That is what my Catholic schoolteachers used to say. They were wrong. I make work that is of the world because I believe marinating oneself in the people, society, ideas, and struggles we find around ourselves is what it means to be alive. I am a clown. I take a moment, strip it bare, find the joy, the pain, the awkwardness, and I sit with it until it speaks. I believe we can find truth if we sit together.
