Abstract/Artist's Statement
The Family Arcane is a collection of interconnected short stories that explores the ways in which people (and a few other beings) interact with the world without all of the cognitive tools to do so. For example, a child trying to understand maturity, an emotionally stunted teenager navigating social norms, a woman who feels like a robot, and any other outsider, can be a member of the family. These short stories seek to inspire those with the common fear of being different, and ask the psychological and sociological questions that come up every day but often go unspoken.
